What is a 4 point inspection?

4 point insurance inspections are specific inspections that are performed at the request of your insurance company. When you purchase a home of certain age, a 4 point inspection may be required to obtain insurance on the property. If you are already insured, you may have heard about a 4 point inspection for the first time when you received a notice from your insurance company. These types of inspections became common after hurricane Andrew in 1992. This type of inspection has increased in popularity since the 2004, 2005 hurricane seasons. Since then, 4 point inspections may be required in homes 20 years or older depending on the guidelines set by individual insurance companies.
